Heather Peace New Role – Waterloo Road

Heather Peace began filming BBC One’s Waterloo Road early in September. Her character will be joining the school’s teaching staff.

Waterloo Road, set in a challenging Manchester comprehensive school, also stars Amanda Burton and Robson Green. The drama deals with many social issues such as abortion and gender identity.

Waterloo Road is an award-winning British television drama series, first broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 9 March 2006. Set in a troubled comprehensive school in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, the series focuses on the lives of the school’s teacher and students, and confronts social issues, including affairs, abortion, divorce, cancer, transgender issues, and suicide.

According to a BBC press release, Series 7 will conclude with a “dramatic and explosive storyline”, prompting the school (and the show’s production) to relocate to Scotland for the eighth series. Fifty new episodes have been commissioned with filming due to commence in April 2012, due for broadcast over two years from autumn 2012.

Waterloo Road is produced by Shed Productions, the same company behind BAD GIRLS.
